Senior Accountant-General Ledger

Our education client in Roxbury, MA is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant experienced in Higher Education to start immediately to join their busy team. This role will maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, year-end close, and audit preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA, Masters in Accounting highly preferred
  • 5+ years full cycle accounting experience in Higher Education, State or multiple-industry experience required
  • Expertise working in multiple Chart of Accounts, General Ledger & Sub Ledger
  • MS Office, Advanced Excel, Jenzabar required

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Account Reconciliation, Month End Close, Tying Transactions Sub Ledger and performing adjustments in GL
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and other financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and institutional policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and budget reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
